Episode Summary

Travel's Impact on Children

Everyone from Euripides to Dr. Seuss has framed travel as a kind of education. Travel provides kids with a sense of connectiveness, fueling wonder, empathy, and creativity, while making memories that last longer and go a lot farther than just whatever is on the tablet. Joining us for some insight on traveling with your children are Family Travel Association Director of Research Peter Bopp, and Shannon Jones, author of the acclaimed series of children’s travel books, “KeeKee's Big Adventures.”

Shannon Jones

Shannon’s love of travel began at a young age when her mom was a flight attendant. It opened her eyes and ears to the world. Her idea for KeeKee’s Big Adventures was born while living in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, with her husband Paul and real-life calico kitty KeeKee. After twenty-five years in marketing for global brands like Starbucks, Shannon launched the family travel-entertainment brand, KeeKee’s Big Adventures. The mission? Spark curiosity and inspire an appreciation for the people, places, and cultures of our great big wonderful world with KeeKee, the globetrotting kitty!
