This morning, we will board the Riverboat Discovery for a cruise up the Chena River. Along our journey we will visit the home and kennels of the late four-time Iditarod winner Susan Butcher and see her champion sled dogs in action.
We will explore an ancient Athabascan Indian village with an Alaskan Native Guide.
In the afternoon, we will take a motorcoach to Denali for a stay at the beautiful McKinley Chalet Resort. (or similar)
We will explore Denali National Park today on the Tundra Wilderness Tour with an expert park guide. Get an up-close view of the mountain and the best wildlife viewing as we travel deep into the park. It is rare not to see some combination of Alaska’s Big Five: grizzly bears, caribou, moose, Dall sheep and wolves, along with other animals on this expertly guided six- to eight-hour tour.
In the afternoon, enjoy the amenities at the McKinley Chalet Resort. Share a meal and good times at Karstens Restaurant; stroll the boardwalk and visit the artists-in-residence; shop for handcrafted local goods; enjoy the Music of Denali at the Gold Nugget Saloon and gather around the evening campfire and make s’mores under the open sky.
This morning, we will board the luxurious McKinley Explorer rail cars for our journey to Anchorage via Talkeetna. Experience scenic views through dome windows and outdoor viewing platforms while your Car managers provide commentary and point out particularly beautiful upcoming spots along the way. Reserved seating and lunch in the dining car are included.
Tonight, we will overnight in Anchorage.
