This morning, we visit the tallest mountain in Japan, Mount Fuji, a cultural icon of Japan and one of the Three Holy Mountains. Enjoy a cruise on Lake Ashi, a crater lake with magnificent views of Mount Fuji, and take a thrilling Hakone Komagatake Ropeway tram ride. Tonight, enjoy a Japanese/Western dinner at the hotel. After breakfast we visit the picturesque city of Hakone with its peaceful atmosphere. At the Open-Air Museum you can say a prayer and relax in the beautiful scenery. Enjoy a full day tour of Kyoto including the Nijo Castle and the Kinkaku-ji Temple. It was spared from large scale destruction in WW2. This is home to the Nintendo video game company. After lunch explore the Gion district of Machiya with traditional Japanese houses and teahouses. Tonight, enjoy a group dinner with a Geisha and Maiko traditional experience. (B, L, D)
This morning, take a walking tour of the beautiful ancient temples of Nara. Tour the Nara Park and its Places of Scenic Beauty, the Great Image of Buddha and the Sasuga Taisha Shrine, one of Japan’s most sacred sites. Evening at leisure. (B)
Visit the UNESCO Zen Buddhism Tenryuji Temple with its landmark 400-year-old wooden Togetsu-kyo Bridge. Tonight, bid farewell to Japan and our fellow travelers at an epic Group Dinner. (B, D)
